At Almond Elementary, we are dedicated to providing an exceptional educational experience for our students from kindergarten through 6th grade. Our academic programs are designed to foster a love of learning, critical thinking, and creativity in a nurturing and supportive environment. 

Our Academic Programs: 

  1. Comprehensive Curriculum Guides: FUSD utilizes Standard Guidance Documents to ensure equity and access to grade level standards curriculum and a viable curriculum for all K-6 scholars.  Our teachers have received extensive training with the guides and have been provided planning time to ensure effective implementation.   

  1. Core Instruction: Almond has emphasized the importance of delivering high-quality, standards-based instruction the first-time students are taught a concept. This method integrates adherence to standards, checking for understanding, and differentiating curriculum to address the needs of all learners to grasp grade-level content and skills from the outset.  We maintain a master schedule to ensure we commit to daily routines in the crucial content areas of Reading, Mathematics, and English Language Development.  

  1. Literacy Development: Our literacy programs focus on building strong reading and writing skills from an early age, with personalized support to help each child succeed. 

  1. WIN Time (What I Need): For students who are struggling academically in literacy, we offer small group differentiation. This approach allows teachers to provide targeted instruction and support, ensuring that every student can achieve their full potential. 

  1. Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS): We are committed to developing well-rounded individuals. Our PBIS program emphasizes the importance of being safe, responsible, respectful, and relentless.  Our students are provided weekly social emotional lessons through our Second Step Program.  In addition, Pacer Production creates weekly social emotional learning videos to promote our four PBIS expectations.  

  1. STEAM Integration: We believe in the power of the science, technology, engineering, arts, and math to enhance learning. Our programs include music, visual arts, drama, and video production allowing students to express themselves and develop their talents. We integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through hands-on projects and interactive learning experiences that inspire curiosity and innovation. 

  1. Enrichment Activities: We offer a variety of enrichment activities, including Pacer Productions, Renaissance, Robotics, science fairs, and art exhibitions, to extend learning beyond the classroom and encourage exploration. 

  1. Support for Special Education Students: We provide tailored support for Special Education students through individualized education plans (IEPs) and specialized instruction to meet their unique needs.
