Welcome to a new school year at Almond Elementary! At Almond, we firmly believe that when we unite as a community, we can achieve greatness. Together, we will continue to build an environment that fosters growth, learning, and the pursuit of excellence.  Our Almond community is enriched by the diversity of our families represented in various home languages. 

We understand that education is more than just academics—it’s about building the confidence to take on life’s challenges. Through a well-rounded and nurturing approach, we aim to equip our scholars with both the academic and social-emotional skills they need to thrive.  Every week our teachers provide lessons on social emotional intelligence via our 2nd Step Lesson. Our dedicated team of educators is committed to cultivating high academic achievement while also nurturing authentic relationships and meaningful connections. We follow the PBIS expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible.  

Last year we had some exciting academic growth in iReady, State Assessments, SBAC, EL Proficiency, and a reduction in behavior incidents.  We will share more details of our academic growth at our various coffee with principal and other family events. 

As we begin this academic year, I encourage all parents, teachers, and scholars to actively participate in our school’s activities, clubs, and initiatives. Your involvement is essential to creating a vibrant and enriching experience for our students. To stay connected, we recommend all families download two important apps:  

• Q Parent Connection – Access your child’s portal to review records, attendance, and grades.  

• Parent Square – Our primary communication tool for daily and weekly updates, event reminders, and classroom news. We also need support from our families to help us improve our attendance and make a commitment to ensuring your child is here on time every day ready to learn. 

Our Almond Team looks forward to witnessing the growth and accomplishments of our scholars as they embark on this exciting journey. Together, we will shape the future of our children and strengthen the bonds within our school community.

Assistant Principal Mary Dickerson

With over 20 years of experience in education, I am honored to serve as the Assistant Principal at both Canyon Crest and Almond. Before stepping into this role, I was the coordinator of Elementary Instruction, where I had the privilege of supporting teachers through professional development and providing curriculum resources. It is truly a privilege to be at Almond, working alongside dedicated staff and enthusiastic students. Together with Dr. López, we form a team of administrators committed to ensuring equity and access for all students, empowering them to achieve their highest potential.
